The Day I Discovered I was a Racist?

Interesting eye opening week.  Tsunami's and revolutions.  Earthshattering.......but what really got my attention because it hit so close to home was the news item where I unfortunately discovered I was a racist......

At least according to former NPR executive Ron Schiller and his non relative Vivian (like in "Pretty Woman") Schiller seems to agree.  Of course the hired help called her Miss Vivian in the movie.

Back to Ron, he was videotaped describing people like me from middle America, I was born in Texas (pretty dang middle), who tote guns (shooting since I was 6) as racist tea party xenophobic people.  Does that mean I need to change my NPR preset in my truck?  Been listening to NPR for a long time and watching news on Public Television (certainly a sister organization) almost since I started toting that gun.

Hmmm, strange what you learn about yourself from other people.

Ron was wearing a nice suit as he sat at his linen covered table in the NPR dining room with crystal and silver on that tablecloth paid for with American taxpayer money.  Not only am I American, I've even donated to NPR and various Public Television Stations and acted as a fundraiser for them.

Ouch!
Sometimes you just get stabbed in the back I guess.............

Those tea party guys ........I'm not in that organization, but I do sympathize with some of those guys who carry that yellow "Don't Tread on Me" flag (the Gadsden flag a historical symbol of American patriotism).  The original guys with that flag had gotten tired of Ol' King George taxing 'em and trying to tell 'em what to do.  Including housing Redcoats in their homes and making tea unaffordable.

Since Ron and Vivian didn't care for those Americans stating their opinions (1st Amendment freedom of speech) or toting their guns (2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms) maybe Ron and Vivian only believe they and their friends have the right to the freedoms expressed in our glorious Constitution.  Now, that is sort of an elitist attitude wouldn't you say?

Seems they believe they can call us names behind the scenes and then feed us perhaps inaccurate information on their broadcasts.  Please National Press.....give us the facts. The who, the what, the where, the when, but don't editorialize the why in the journalistic piece.  Unlike Ron and Vivian you still have a chance to keep your jobs.

Stand up Fifth Estate remember that Benjamin Franklin who first created the rattlesnake logo on that flag was a journalist.  There is a reason he is on the $100 dollar bill. Hey Fourth Estate go back and read Ben... and Thomas Paine also.  If you do perhaps you current guys could show a little "Common Sense".

And by the way all of us are waiting for that apology you never gave for calling us racists.  I know you won't give me my money back.

Till we meet again
