The Wedding

Earlier this week a friend of mine asked, "what all the excitement was about the wedding."
My answer as I looked at him questioningly was It's...historical. And my goodness it was...I would like to tell you why.

Yes, it was huge. It was beautiful. It was expensive ($60 million). It had carriages. It was a fairytale come to life. Prancing horses. Angelic singers. Trumpets and heads of state. Athletes and politicians. Knights and entertainers.

But at it's core it was simply a pure exchange of traditional vows between a man and a woman. That simple exchange orchestrated by the Archbishop really tells the story.  That exchange of marriage vows represents rebirth.

People get married everyday. The fact that this royal couple used the same words used across the world by millions of men and women is perfect in its simplicity.  That union of man and woman is pure and blessed in the eyes of God and our Creator.

Yes it's about rebirth. The rebirth of the British monarchy and it's relationship with it's people.  The marriage of the Royal William Arthur Philip Louis and the former Commoner Catherine Elizabeth is about the rebirth of hope. And guess what every marriage that occurs in our world is about rebirth and hope.

That is what made the Royal Wedding so special...it reminded each and every one of us that every marriage is about rebirth. It also says that in God's eyes...we are all royalty. That gives me hope and that makes "the wedding" very historical.

Till we meet again
