Ever Present Memory

I met her in the recovery room
She made me feel like smiling soon
After work won’t you come on by
Check me out make sure I’m fine

The next day I was in a haze
Hungover from the sublimaze
I had a beer and called the nurse
Chasing women was a tragic curse
Chasing women was a tragic curse

She raked her nails across my chest
It’s when I knew she was the best
She’s not just faded history
She’s an ever present memory
She’s an ever present memory

Monday came and I caught a plane
But my mind worked like a train
Revving engines and hauling cars
Could that nurse really be from Mars

When we landed I made a call
Let’s drink a beer and have a ball
I’ll be back in a few more days
You blow my mind like purple haze
You blow my mind like purple haze

She raked her nails across my chest
It’s when I knew she was the best
She’s not just faded history
She’s an ever present memory
She’s an ever present memory

Another airport like a Thunderdome
She picked me up and took me home
Tomorrow’s a party what do you say
We’ll sip champagne and play croquet

Life’s a game with a sticky wicket
Gonna punch this nurse’s ticket
To tell the truth I don’t need to lie
I won’t need an alibi
I won’t need an alibi

She clawed her nails into my chest
It’s when I knew she was the best
She’s not just faded history
She’s an ever present memory
She’s an ever present memory
