"Troublemaker"

When I met her she was dancing
Putting dollar bills away
In a little dive bar down in Athens
Breaking hearts all night and day
Drove up to see her in the city
On the river Tennessee
She wrapped the crowd around her finger
And went to Waffle House with me

She was a troublemaker
What was she going to say
We took a trip to Tucson
She broke my heart along the way
I thought she sounded like an angel
But making trouble was her way

The next time I saw her in a restaurant
Was on the way to Santa Fe
She had these pretty little freckles
Still breaking hearts all night and day
She smiled and leaned across the table
She stole a French fry from my plate
I couldn’t help but only laugh when
She squirted ketchup on my face

She was a troublemaker
What was she going to say
I thought she spoke just like an angel
But making trouble was her way
We took a trip to Tucson
and She broke my heart along the way

We packed the truck while up in Frisco
She had a pit stop in LA
She said wait here for me baby
There’s not much else that I can say
I took a pill and leaned the seat back
Thought I’d take a little nap
Two hours passed in just an instant
My troublemaker was not back

She was a troublemaker
What was she going to say
I thought she sounded like an angel
But making trouble was her way
We took a trip to Tucson
She disappeared along the way

Now she lives in Indiana
And it’s way too far away
She won’t get on an airplane

Cause of pat downs by the TSA
And road trips with a baby
Are really stressful so they say
But it doesn’t even matter
She’ll never come again to play

She was a troublemaker
What was she going to say
I only thought she was an angel
Cause making trouble was her way
When we made that trip to Tucson
She broke my heart along the way
